Marshrutka (Minibuses)

Minibuses - Known locally as “marshrutka” - are one of the most widely used forms of transport in Moldova.

They are small, fast, and flexible, connecting cities, towns, and villages across the country. Unlike larger buses, minibuses also reach smaller streets, local neighborhoods, and more remote areas, making them an essential part of everyday mobility.

For many people, they are the easiest way to get around - especially when traveling short to medium
distances or when other transport options are limited.

For visitors, they offer something unique:
- A closer, more local way to experience Moldova.

Where You Will Find Them

Minibuses operate throughout the entire country and are often the most accessible form of transport.

Beyond the main roads. You will find them in:
- Chișinău - connecting districts, suburbs, and smaller streets not always covered by buses. (
Gara Centru - Gara Nord - Gara Sud-Vest)
- Bălți – linking neighborhoods and surrounding areas.
- Cahul, Comrat, Orhei – connecting towns with nearby villages.
- Rural areas – often the primary way to travel.

They are known for going where others don’t - into narrow streets, through neighborhoods, and deeper into the countryside.

How It Works
