Iliaș I Of Moldavia
1432 - 1442

Iliaș I of Moldavia was the son of Alexander Cel Bun (Alexander I of Moldavia) and became ruler after his father in the early 15th century.

Iliaș I ruled Moldova after a long period of stability under his
father, Alexander Cel Bun.

However, unlike his father’s reign, Iliaș’ time as ruler was marked by internal conflicts and power struggles.

After Alexander I’s death, the question of succession led to divisions within the ruling family.

Iliaș I did not rule alone - he shared power and competed with his
brother, which created instability in the country.

This period is known for repeated changes in leadership and tensions between rival factions.

Because of these internal struggles, Moldova became less stable than it had been before.

Control over the country shifted, and authority was not always clear or secure.

Even though Iliaș I held the title of ruler, his reign represents a time of division rather than unity.

This marked the beginning of a more turbulent period in Moldova’s history.
