Unlike earlier rulers, whose main task was survival and stability, Petru I focused on building and strengthening the state.
During his reign, Moldova began to take clearer shape as a functioning principality.
He worked on organizing administration, strengthening the economy, and improving relations with neighboring regions. One of his most important contributions was the introduction of early Moldavian coinage, which showed that the country had developed enough to manage its own economic system.
Petru I also strengthened Moldova’s position in regional trade. Located between important routes, the country became a passage for goods and merchants, which increased its importance and influence.
His rule represents a shift from simple survival to development and consolidation.
Moldova was no longer just independent - it was becoming structured, stable, and economically active.
