To get to Et Cetera Winery you have to travel south through Moldova, and the more south you get, the more the roads gets less traficated.
The Vineyards shows up, almost suddenly, beside fields and village homes, stretching across the hills beneath the southern sun.
One follows another, then another, until it almost feels strange to see a hillside without grapevines growing on it.
Now and then you pass a tractor between the rows, workers in the vineyards, or trailers waiting during the harvest season.
Before you know of it, they seem to be everywhere, running beside the
roads, climbing the hills, and reaching almost to the edges of the villages.
As you drive through places like Ștefan Vodă, Purcari, Palanca and finally towards Crocmaz, the vineyards become more and more frequent.
One appears beside the road, then another across a hillside, then another stretching away behind a village.
Gardens stand full of flowers and fruit trees during the summer months, and now and then you pass people sitting outside their homes talking while the warmth of the day slowly fades away, the later it gets
There is also a restaurant and terrace where you can sit and enjoy those very weldone dishes, there are being served during the lunches and evenings beside the vineyards.
Moldovan dishes, local ingredients, and wines from the winery are served while the rows of vines remain just a short distance away.
One conversation quickly leads to another, another glass is poured, perhaps a snack and before long you forget about time and place.
In late summer and the autumn are perhaps the most beautiful time to drive these roads.
The smell of dry earth and vineyards hangs in the air. the tractors moves slowly through the countryside, and during harvest season baskets filled with
grapes appear beside the roads while workers, are working between
the almost endlessly rows of vines.
As the evening slowly settles around the vineyards conversations continues into the late hours. Nobody seems to be in a hurry to leave.
Et Cetera Winery was founded in 2003 by the Luchianov family and has become one of the wineries representing Moldova's newer generation of winemaking.
The vineyards surrounding the winery to all sides, and the countryside remains an important part of the experience from the moment you have arrived.
The wines reflect the vineyards, the soil, the surrounding and the long, warm summers of southern Moldova.
You can taste both red and white wines at Et Cetera.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz stand beside Sauvignon-
Blanc, Chardonnay, and other lighter wines, while Moldovan grape varieties remain an important part of the collection alongside the international ones.
Together they all offer a chance to explore both familiar wines and varieties that you perhaps taste for the very first time.
The atmosphere at- and around Et Cetera changes beautifully with the seasons.
In Spring, the vineyards slowly turn green again and the countryside begins waking up after winter.
The Summer brings long warm evenings where you can stay outside beneath the southern sky long after the sun have said goodnight.
Autumn is the harvest season.
The vineyards turn golden, red, and deep orange, tractors continuesly drive through the rows, and grapes again begin appearing beside the roads and
around the winery.
Even Winter has its own charm.
The vineyards rest beneath cold skies, and inside the winery the days feel ore calm, warmer, and somehow a little more personal with candles, wood, and a glass of red wine nearby.
After your arrivel at Et Cetera you feel a more personal welcoming from the very beginning.
The winery stands among the vineyards beneath the wide southern sky, with terraces, stone paths, wooden details, and rows of vines stretching away in every direction.
Someone greets you, a conversation begins, and very quickly it feels less like a visit and more like being invited.
Guests sit outside well into the late evening while the light slowly fading across the vineyards and the warmth of the day still are there, long after the
sun has disappeared.
At Et Cetera is not just only about wine, it is also largely about southern
Moldova part itself.
The roads running through the vineyards, the warmth still hanging in the evening air and people sitting outside talking while another bottle is opened and the day slowly gives way to the evening.
And after you have left, maybe even distant into the future, those are often the things you remember.
Sitting outside while the light changes across the vineyards, one conversation leading to another, looking at your watch and realizing that somehow several hours have passed, without you noticing it
One of the things many visitors appreciate most is that Et Cetera is not only a place for tasting wine and leaving again after an hour.
You can actually stay here.
The winery includes both accommodation and dining experiences, allowing visitors to spend the night surrounded by the almost mythical vineyards instead of returning to the roads again immidiatly.
The rooms overlook the southern landscape, where vineyards, fields, and distant hills are stretching beyond the windows.
In the morning, the countryside is often very quiet.
Birds move through the fields while the first sunlight slowly spreads across the vineyards, the winery and surrounding hills.
Unii spun că în sudul Moldovei serile bune nu se grăbesc niciodată.
