Edineț

Edineț looks at first like a town, where you get the impression of the everyday is more calm than other town's of its size.

People walk to the shops, sit on benches, meet each other in the streets and have conversations that have probably been going on for years

Then you look around and start noticing even smaller details.

A familiar greeting between two people someone stopping for a few words before they are moving on.

Children crossing a square, elderly people sitting together watching the town moving around them.

And after a while, you find yourself doing the exactly same thing.

There is no strong town center in Edineț where everything seems to link everything
together, and no single landmark that immediately tells you what kind
of town this is.

You keep walking again, look around, and before long you are noticing things that did not catch your attention when you first arrived..

One street leads to another, then another, and after while, the town feels more familiar than it did an hour before.

Edineț is located in the northern part of Moldova, not far from the borders with Romania and Ukraine, and is home to around 20,000 people.

First mentioned in 1431, the town grew together with the surrounding
villages, farmland, and trade routes.

Agriculture, local markets, and the people living across the region have shaped Edineț for generations and continues to do so today.

The architecture reflects that development.

Some buildings are older than others more recent, yet they stand next to one another without drawing much attention to their differences.

The facades show age and the passing of time more than any particular style, and somehow everything fits together very naturally.

The streets run without strict directions, connecting residential areas with small commercial spaces and public buildings that fits naturally inside their surroundings.

There are nothing there dominates, nothing feels out of place, and the town holds a balance there is formed slowly over time.

In the central area, people come and go throughout the day without much fuss.

Some are on their way somewhere, others stop for a conversation, sit for a while, or simply watch the town around them, while they are resting

The flow rarely changes and things seem to happen when they happen, much as they perhaps always have.

The defination of Edineț is not just one particular place, thing, building, or landmark.

It is found, seen and discovered in the town as a whole, as in the streets, the
buildings, the people, and the maybe everyday life that moves around them.

Changes are not very quickly here, and perhaps that is why you start noticing things, you might have missed somewhere else.

Beyond the streets, the countryside is never very far away.

The fields stretches beyond the town limit, and not long after, the buildings gives way to farmland and the open land.

Even when you are in the center of Edineț, it seems that the surrounding countryside is still close by, just beyond the next street or the next row of houses.

Edineț is not a town that depends on the size, famous landmarks, or dramatic contrasts, instead, it is, as it is.

People live their lives, the streets are running where they always have, the town have its own way, and perhaps that is why it feels comfortable and familiar so quickly.

The town is not trying to become like other towns.

Edineț are o istorie îndelungată ca așezare regională, fiind menționat pentru prima dată în anul 1431, iar mai târziu dezvoltându-se într-un important centru local din nordul Moldovei.

constant în partea de nord a țării.
